You know what happens to busy people that always put others before themselves...? They forget to eat!!!
Unfortunately...not eating can lead too:
*Extreme Weight Loss
*Dizziness
*Headaches
*Fainting
*Anxiety
*Depression
*Osteoporosis
*High Blood Pressure
*Lowered Immune System
*Confusion
*Heart Dysrhythmias
*Muscle Spasms
None of the symptoms or conditions listed above are desirable. Waking up early, educating students, meeting deadlines, and enjoying your life would be much easier, if you MAKE SURE you take care of your self first and eat.
(*Insert analogy of when you are on a plane and the oxygen masks drop.*)
To help you out...I put together some quick, healthy, and easy on the go breakfast ideas. These are meals that you would be cooking/prepping at home beforehand, but if that's not your thing...I've also included alternatives that you can store in the fridge/cabinet and take to work with little to no prep.
BREAKFAST (ON THE GO)
1. Smoothies!!!!!!!!!!! (Vegan/Vegetarian)
I'm sorry...but who doesn't love a good smoothie!?!?
All you need to make this happen is a bunch of fruit that you love, freezer bags, juice, and yogurt (optional). Betty Crocker shared some DELICIOUS make-ahead recipes, but feel free to get creative with your own blends. I would suggest mixing up the flavors, so you don't get bored, and making enough for at least a week. Take these babies out the freezer, add liquid (juice/yogurt), and blend while you are getting ready for work. Add a scoop of protein for extra added benefits!
Alternative: Don't want to make your own smoothie? I've tried all of the smoothies below, with (chocolate) Boost being one of my favorites to sustain energy. These options are affordable and available at your local grocery store.

2. Homemade Breakfast Sandwich
I grew up in New York, where delis and bakeries were on just about every block. One of my fondest memories was walking to my favorite local bakery and eating bacon, egg, and cheese sandwiches with my best friend. When that wasn't available, my mom would make them for us. Until recently, I would buy them frozen from the grocery store. Leave it to Pinterest to open my eyes up to the possibility of freezing your own breakfast sandwiches. I've included a recipe from Tasty Buzzfeed that is very similar to how I make my breakfast sandwiches. My only changes to this recipe would be: use Pillsbury Honey Biscuits and wrap in parchment paper only. I've never wrapped mine in paper towels and they turned out just fine. I don't use English Muffins when I plan to freeze them as many people have complained of dryness. Click the image to watch this sandwich being made!
Since I love you...I made a cute sticker freebie that you can use to label and personalize your breakfast sandwiches! Enjoy!!! :) Click the image to download.
Alternative: Don't want to make your own breakfast sandwich? Try these Jimmy Dean Breakfast Biscuits.

3. Eggo "Pizza" (Vegetarian)
You will surely have to demand people, "Leggo my Eggo" with this yummy breakfast treat. (I'm so corny...) This recipe from Num's the Word is so simple...I don't even have an alternative option for it, other than just eat the Eggo plain. lol
4. Parfait (Vegetarian)
The Chic Site x Rachel Hollis definitely got it right with this one. I absolutely just adore the reusable containers and its always nice to have your parfait ready to go. If you are concerned about your cereal or granola getting soggy, just place it in a separate plastic baggy. Another option would be to get a food storage container like the one below. It comes with in a pack of 3 and has a separate compartment for your toppings.

Alternative: Don't want to make your own parfait? Check in at your local grocery store near the bakery and dairy section. Usually they make parfaits in house and you can stock up on a few according to the expiration/use by dates.
Marketside parfait can be found at Walmart.

5. Pancake Muffins (Vegetarian)
Things that make you go yum!!! I'm loving this recipe from Life a Little Brighter. These muffins are awesome because they are made with variety from the start. You can use leftover items from any of the items listed above, including bacon! After the muffins cool off, store them in a ziplock bag and grab a couple before heading out in the morning. These delicious muffins don't last very long in my house.
Alternative: Don't want to make your own muffins? An easy go to grab for me has always been Entenmann's Little Bites!
I don't want to overwhelm you with too many options, so that's it for the breakfast edition. For someone that really doesn't enjoy being in the kitchen, I can assure you that all of these options are SUPER EASY and you will not be disappointed.
One last thing I would like to suggest, if you don't have one already, try to get your hands on a mini fridge and microwave for your classroom. If your school allows it, it is a LIFESAVER! You don't have to worry about people taking your food and you can keep items in the fridge for days you were running late or forgot to grab breakfast before leaving home. Also, you will need it to store your lunch!
Up next, I will be sharing some quick and easy lunches. If you have a recipe or option that you would like me to consider, please link me to it in the comments below or email me at teachermagic@yahoo.com.
